Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary

Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is a huge nature reserve located in the Stann Creek District, not far from the village of Hopkins. You can also easily reach it from the city of Dangriga. It is located off the Southern Highway, approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Dangriga.  It is an internationally renowned destination because of its esteemed jaguar reservation.

Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is composed of two basins: the West Basin and the East Basin. There are a number of beautiful hikes that can be taken from the entrance to the park at the Maya Center after paying the entrance fee. Some of the hikes are very easy, while some of them are quite difficult. All of the hikes are stunningly beautiful, but make your choice wisely!
